Social Worker

Visa sponsorship: Not available. Only candidates who currently live in the UK can apply.

About the role

Bracknell Forest Council is looking for a Social Worker to join its Adult Social Care Hospital Team. You will support vulnerable adults in a caring, strengths-based way, keeping the person at the centre of every decision. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, 37 hours a week, with flexible hours. The team works from the Time Square office in Bracknell two to three days a week, with hybrid working for the rest. Reference: People/26/346902.

Internal candidates will be offered the role as a secondment and must speak to their manager before applying, as set out in the council's Secondment Policy.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload, prioritising your work with regular supervision and guidance.
  • Work with colleagues from other disciplines so people get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
  • Connect people and their families with community and social networks so they can stay in their own communities.
  • Use a strengths-based approach to help people live the best life they can and rely less on long-term care.
  • Help maintain high standards of performance across the service.

About the team

The Hospital Team works closely with health partners to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and to help people get home quickly and safely after a hospital stay. The wider Adult Social Care service is made up of supportive, multidisciplinary teams with a "can do" and "no wrong door" attitude.

Staff receive regular supervision and training, and the council actively listens to feedback and ideas for improving the service.

Benefits

  • 28 days annual leave, rising to 33 days after 3 years of continuous service, with the option to buy up to 10 days and sell up to 5 days
  • Hybrid working to support work-life balance
  • Local Government Pension Scheme with life insurance cover
  • Paid employee volunteering scheme
  • Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme (subject to eligibility)
  • Refund of Social Work England registration and one annual professional subscription
  • Continuous NHS and UKHSA service recognised for some benefits (terms apply)
  • Career development through internal and external training
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and fostering leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing
  • Staff networks and a sports and social club

Requirements and important notes

  • Experience of working within the current adult social care system and framework
  • AYSE and newly qualified social workers (NQSW) can apply
  • Enhanced DBS check required
  • Applicants must currently live in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered
  • Interviews will be held in person on a date to be confirmed; candidates who use AI during the interview will be withdrawn
